RB Leipzig and Manchester City are said to have agreed on Josko Gvardiol’s move to Citizens. This is reported by the Italian transfer expert Fabrizio Romano.
Accordingly, the two clubs would have agreed on a transfer fee for the Croatian central defender. According to the report, Gvardiol reached a personal agreement with the English a month ago. On Wednesday he had already completed the first part of the medical check.
According to English media reports, Gvardiol will become the most expensive defender and replace Harry Maguire from Manchester United (87 million euros) in this ranking with a transfer fee of more than 100 million euros. For Leipzig it would be the next big transfer after Dominik Szoboszlai (for 70 million euros to Liverpool) and Christopher Nkunku (for 60 million euros to Chelsea).
Gvardiol came to Leipzig two years ago for around 19 million euros from his youth club Dinamo Zagreb. He has made 59 Bundesliga appearances for RB so far, scoring three goals and providing three assists. At the World Cup in Qatar, he represented Croatia in all seven full-time games.
