Alphonso Davies from FCB is said to be a candidate for Manchester City

Manchester City are considering signing Bayern Munich defender Alphonso Davies. That reports sky.

The English champions have the Canadian “definitely on the list”, it is said. It is conceivable that City will make a move at Davies for the coming season.

The 22-year-old is under contract with FC Bayern until 2025. Talks about an early extension are said to be already underway. Speculations about an interest of well-known clubs in Davies appear again and again. Spain’s record champions Real Madrid are preferably mentioned. It is considered unlikely that Munich will give up the top performer.

Davies switched from the Edmonton Strikers to the MLS club Vancouver Whitecaps in 2015, where he got his first taste of professional life. In January 2019, FCB signed him for a fee of 14 million euros. Davies was still a left winger at the time, but was quickly retrained as a left-back and in that position developed into one of the best players in the world.

Davies made 36 competitive appearances for Bayern this season, scoring 3 goals and providing 8 assists. At the World Cup in Qatar, he played the full distance in all three games for Canada’s national team and scored one goal.
