Angelino clarifies the dispute with Julian Nagelsmann

RB Leipzig’s Angelino caused a stir ahead of last season’s DFB Cup final. In an interview with sports1 he explained the quarrel with the then RB coach Julian Nagelsmann.

The Spaniard was left out of the squad ahead of the 4-1 defeat to BVB. “I don’t have to go into the exact reasons now, in any case he’s not there, he’s not in the squad,” Nagelsmann said at the press conference at the time.

However, Angelino himself reported fit. “I was injured in the phase. A lot of people took it differently, but that’s the truth. It wasn’t a big deal though. Two or three days before the final, I had problems in the same muscle that I had been injured in before.” , he now explained.

“I could have played, but there was a risk that I would hurt myself badly in this muscle. I’m someone who always wants to play. I wanted to be there, it was a final and I didn’t care about the pain,” said Angelino out.

In retrospect, the 25-year-old thinks Nagelsmann’s decision was the right one, “because that’s how I was able to recover from the injury”. He had no problem with the current Bayern Munich coach.

“We talked to each other right after the game, there was no argument or anything. All good. I always got along very well with him,” said Angelino.
