Maria KeaneLast summer, David Alaba (29) moved from FC Bayern to Real Madrid on a free transfer. But a transfer to the Premier League was apparently also possible. Chelsea defender Antonio Rüdiger (28) probably wanted to convince the Austrian of a commitment to the Blues.
Like the British newspaper The Daily Telegraph reports, Rüdiger is said to have tried to lure the Bayern defender to Stamford Bridge after he said he did not want to extend his expiring contract with the German record champions.
According to FCB officials, Alaba had demanded too high a salary from Munich. After Bayern did not comply with the Austrian’s wishes, Alaba switched to Real Madrid in the summer.
Since then he has been an undisputed regular player at the royal team. Alaba was on the lawn 23 times this season. He got two hits and three assists. With Real, he also leads the table in the Spanish Primera Division.
