"Have nothing left to give away"

Sports director Fredi Bobic from Hertha BSC has given coach Tayfun Korkut a job guarantee until the end of the season.

He “doesn’t feel like actionism,” said Bobic in a double pass sports1: “At the end of the season there is a turning point. Then we sit down together and see if things continue. Tayfun is an excellent football coach. I have great faith in him.”

The double pass every Sunday from 11 a.m. LIVE on Sport1.

As a coach, Korkut could “difficulty prevent individual mistakes, and we make too many of them,” explained the 50-year-old: “If the points are missing, it’s quickly pinned on the coach. But Tayfun reaches the team with a clear plan. And he don’t whine, try to get the best out of it.” Hertha lost 3-0 at SC Freiburg on Saturday, and the old lady is just one place ahead of the relegation zone in the table.

Rather, he “didn’t feel 1000 percent” that all players had accepted the relegation battle. Despite the difficult sporting situation in the team, he still recognizes certain “egoisms,” explained the 50-year-old. It is now necessary to filter out “who is the right person for this situation. Only the one who marches fully” is allowed to play: “Names don’t matter now.”

When he switched to Hertha, he “didn’t think” that he would be in this situation at the time, Bobic continued: “It wasn’t planned that way. We didn’t perform well.”

The reasons for this are “many and deep”. He identified the lack of continuity over the past few years as a central factor. That is “not good for a club, especially a traditional club like us, wherever there is a mood,” said the former attacker.
