BVB, rumor: Dortmund absolutely wants to extend with Gregor Kobel

As an undisputed regular player, Gregor Kobel is one of the main reasons for Borussia Dortmund’s strong season. As the Swiss newspaper Blick reports, BVB wants to get down to business early on and extend the goalkeeper’s contract, which runs until 2026.

An extension of one to two years is m discussion, whereby the salary of the 25-year-old could also be significantly adjusted. According to the report, Kobel could collect between 12 and 13 million euros from the black and yellow a year in the future and would thus become one of the top earners in the club.

Above all, BVB wants to counteract the growing interest in the Swiss. Recently, several clubs from the Premier League had asked about Kobel, especially Manchester United and Chelsea FC are said to have kept an eye on the 25-year-old. The name Kobel was also floating around at FC Bayern as a possible long-term successor to Manuel Neuer.

“He’s having an outstanding season. I definitely see him as a hot candidate for Bayern if Manuel Neuer retires, he’s almost ten years younger than Neuer and Sommer. I can well imagine him in Bayern’s goal in the future,” said ex-national player Lothar Matthäus on the keeper’s situation in February.

Kobel himself has recently expressed reservations about his future, but emphasized that he feels comfortable in Dortmund. “I’m under contract with BVB and have goals with this club and this team that I’m fully focused on,” said the Swiss in an interview with sports picture. He still has “a lot planned for Dortmund in the near future. We’re on the right track with our work. We have a huge chance of winning something this season.”

The focus is on the course of the crime, the investigation and the consequences of the attack. In addition, the former Dortmund players Roman Weidenfeller, Julian Weigl and Marc Bartra as well as managing director Hans-Joachim Watzke will have their say.
