Borussia M'Gladbach - The hardest thing is still ahead of Hütter: "Something is wrong there"

Borussia Mönchengladbach has at least slowed down the week-long slide. But it won’t be easier for coach Adi Hütter in the new year either.

Adi Hütter looked and sounded like a trainer who has the hardest time to come. “You must never ignore the table. I can of course also see that the situation is not without danger,” admitted the ailing coach of Borussia Mönchengladbach after the 1-1 (1-0) at TSG Hoffenheim.

The draw only gave the Austrian a short break over Christmas, and further adversity looms at the beginning of the year. After all, the first opponents in the second half of the season are Bayern Munich and Bayer Leverkusen. After these games, the Borussia could finally have reached the relegation battle of the Bundesliga.

In view of the poor performance in the past four bankruptcies and the happy draw on Saturday, Hütter, for whom sports director Max Eberl transferred 7.5 million euros to Eintracht Frankfurt in the summer, was not much more than optimistic: “We’ll get out of there.”

Borussia M’Gladbach: “Something is wrong there”

Lothar Matthäus is not so confident about that. “Something’s wrong there,” said the 1990 world captain in the Picture on sunday with a view to his previous club, which he counts as one of the biggest disappointments of the first half of the season.

The game in front of the permitted 750 spectators in Sinsheim only made hope of improvement to a limited extent. Although Breel Embolo had brought the five-time champions into the lead (35th) and the substitute Kevin Akpoguma only managed to equalize for TSG in stoppage time, the point win for the guests was flattering.

Christoph Kramer made no secret of it. “If we hadn’t received so much legitimate criticism in the last few weeks, then I would stand here and say what the shit we played, we’ve never been that bad,” said the 2014 World Champion Sky: “We bolted every ball forward, of course that wasn’t good.”

Kramer also knows that the most difficult phase could still be ahead. “We have a damn hard board to drill in order to play football again as we are used to,” said the midfielder. but this time we got at least one point. “

Gladbach now has to “bake smaller rolls”

Hütter saw it similarly. “We now have to bake smaller rolls and get back to our qualities through the fight,” said the 51-year-old, who wanted to see a “small step in the right direction”.

It remains to be seen which staff Hütter will be able to take further steps in the coming year. The fact that there are still rumors of emigration about top performers like Matthias Ginter is one of the problems facing Borussia.

Hütter did not want to comment on the speculations, but Ginter himself admitted the question marks behind his future. “You can’t completely rule out anything,” said the international: “But I do believe that it wasn’t the last game today.”

Believing, however, is not knowing what applies to so many things in Gladbach.
