Borussia Mönchengladbach is minus for the third time in a row

Bundesliga club Borussia Mönchengladbach will be in the red for the third time in a row in the current financial year. “It was already a challenging year. Unfortunately, we will also have a minus in 2022,” said Managing Director Stephan Schippers GladbachLive. He expects a shortfall in the tens of millions.

Borussia had already recorded a minus in 2020 (16.7 million) and 2021 (14.6 million). Equity, which recently fell to 72 million euros, will continue to decrease, said Schippers.

Schippers blamed the loss of income due to Corona at the beginning of the year, but also the separation from coach Adi Hütter in the summer. “You are also aware that we paid a fee for the coach. Which means there was a residual value that we had to write off. Something we have never had to do here at Borussia Mönchengladbach before,” he said.

In addition, Borussia lacked the income from two matchdays due to the shortened first half of the season. “The aim must be to be back in the black as Borussia Mönchengladbach in 2023,” said Schippers.
