Maria KeaneBayern defender Bouna Sarr can imagine a return to his former club Olympique Marseille – but not necessarily this summer. “I would like to come back one day, I don’t know when, but it will always be with joy,” said the 30-year-old in an interview Canal+.
Sarr has nothing but positive memories of his time at OM. “I was there for five years and five years is a long time in a career. I think I developed there as a player and more importantly as a person. I left with an excellent relationship with the fans and I love them, like that how they love me,” Sarr said.
The Senegalese switched from Marseille to FC Bayern in October 2020 for eight million euros, but he has only played a supporting role with the German record champions since then. Both under coach Hansi Flick and under his successor Julian Nagelsmann, Sarr does not get beyond sporadic assignments. A separation in the summer seems conceivable despite the contract until 2024.
Things went much better for Sarr recently in the national team. At the Africa Cup of Nations in Cameroon, the right-back was one of Senegal’s regulars and celebrated his greatest sporting success to date by winning the title alongside stars like Sadio Mane.
