Bundesliga: Probably also ghost games in Baden-Württemberg

Maria KeaneCEO Thomas Hitzlsperger from VfB Stuttgart has once again warned urgently against further ghost games in the Bundesliga or even a “football lockdown”.
“Ghost games are really dramatic for us,” said the former international in the SWRBroadcast “Sport BW” and called the financial situation “more and more precarious”.
As elsewhere, the state government of Baden-Württemberg has announced ghost games. A final decision will probably be made on Tuesday.
“Financially, that has a big impact,” emphasized Hitzlsperger. Since the beginning of the pandemic, VfB has lost around 80 million euros in revenue: “That is enormous. We have a large stadium capacity and are also dependent on the ticketing revenues. When these break down, we feel it very clearly.”
Ghost games? VfB boss Hitzlsperger for another solution
He can understand that there are reasons for ghost games, but would like a different solution. “We have implemented all the regulations cleanly. Everything was very open and cooperative and I did not hear any criticism,” he said. That is why he thinks it is “a very, very shame” that alternatives to ghost games are not being discussed.
The fact that Aues President Helge Leonhardt even calls for an interruption of the season “surprises me a lot,” said Hitzlsperger (39): “I don’t think that infections were transmitted during the ghost games. That is why the demand of a second division official is exaggerated and I would only advise against that. “
