BVB bosses are probably discussing a possible winter transfer: two stars in their sights?

Will BVB be active again on the transfer market in winter? That is what the people in charge of Borussia Dortmund are discussing, according to the imageNewspaper apparently on Tuesday.

Accordingly, the elephant group around managing director Hans-Joachim Watzke, sports director Michael Zorc, licensed player manager Sebastian Kehl, technical director Edin Terzic, trainer Marco Rose and consultant Matthias Sammer put their heads together to discuss immediate reinforcement for the second half of the season.

According to the report, BVB already has two prominent names on its wish list: Hakim Ziyech from FC Chelsea and Denis Zakaria from Borussia Mönchengladbach.

At Ziyech, who hardly plays a role at Chelsea under coach Thomas Tuchel, a loan with a subsequent purchase option should be in the room.

Zakaria would probably cost around eight million euros. The Swiss contractor in Gladbach expires at the end of the season. An extension of the contract is considered extremely unlikely, which is why sports director Max Eberl is probably ready to talk.

BVB: Are Bürki and Reinier leaving?

Due to the corona pandemic, the financial leeway is not too great. According to the report, Dortmund is hoping for salary savings. On the one hand, there is hope that a buyer will be found for Roman Bürki and, on the other hand, Reinier’s loan deal with Real Madrid could be terminated prematurely.

In the run-up to the latest defeat against Hertha BSC, Zorc had revealed that purchases would not actually be on the agenda in the coming weeks: “Winter is not our transfer window.”
