BVB captain Marco Reus "smiled" about Zoff between Hasan Salihamidzic and Michael Zorc

BVB captain Marco Reus commented on the quarrel between Dortmund’s sports director Michael Zorc and Bayern Munich’s sports director Hasan Salihamidzic because of his early departure from the DFB in October.

“It was a smile,” said Reus in an interview with Sport1. The topic was discussed “everywhere and too much”.

Salihamidzic had sharply criticized the attacker after he had left the national team earlier due to a knee injury, but was back in the starting line-up in the following Bundesliga game.

“I find it surprising when you drive away from the national team and then play again a few days later. Our players stay and play anyway. It’s not the first time either. If you’re injured, ok, then you’re out , but otherwise, “said the FCB sports director at the time and questioned Reus’ departure, particularly with a view to his claim to want to take a leadership role in the national team under Flick.

“If you want to take the lead, you always have to be there. Otherwise a team won’t work. What Kimmich does, what Neuer does, what Goretzka does, that is leadership for me. The coach can rely on that,” rumbled Salihamidzic.

Zorc’s answer was not long in coming. “Salihamidzic should shut up and comment on the issues of Bayern Munich,” he said, adding: “Who does he think he is?”

Again, Reus will be spared at the DFB for the World Cup qualifier against Armenia (Sunday, 6 p.m. in the LIVETICKER). Does he expect criticism from Munich this time too? “I’m curious to see if something comes,” joked Reus.
