BVB President Rauball worries about football and the DFB

For BVB President Reinhard Rauball, football “does not have the status it deserves at the moment”. Talking to the newspapers of the Funke media group Rauball explained his worries: “When football stars show that they are eating gold-coated steaks, the whole thing starts to slide, and all in all, all of this has led to considerable criticism of football.”

The lawyer, who has led Borussia Dortmund in the executive committee without interruption since 2004, says: “We have to take countermeasures, that’s a main task for everyone in charge.” Rauball, who will be 75 on Christmas Day, also emphasized: “I don’t think the accusation that football claims a special role is fair.”

Rauball is critical of the new beginning in the Presidium of the German Football Association (DFB). “I’m also worried, especially about the DFB,” he said: “The future must be to find solutions together.”

You don’t get to that “by rumbling and not producing headlines, but by speaking and working in the background,” said Rauball.
