Coach Marco Rose dissects VAR after game at Werder Bremen

Marco Rose is fed up with VAR.

After a goal by RB Leipzig in the home game against Werder Bremen (2-1) on Sunday was disallowed after video evidence, the VAR got his fat off Marco Rose. The RB coach had a funny recommendation for the DFB ready.

RB Leipzig won the game on matchday 32 in the last second. But before that, the Saxons were denied a goal by Christopher Nkunku in the 65th minute because Leipzig’s Mohamed Simakan had pushed Leonardo Bittencourt’s hand slightly in front of Bremen’s goal. Bittencourt went down and Nkunku got the ball decisively.

Marco Rose did not agree with the decision. After the game he said opposite DAZN: “Do I really have to say something about that?” – DAZN expert Benjamin Lauth agreed: “That’s just nonsense.”

Rose continued: “You know my opinion on VAR: control offside goals, otherwise let the boys decide on the pitch. He made the right decision,” said Rose about referee Florian Badstübner.

Rose continued: “Make an affordable living space out of it or storage boxes for furniture”, meaning the famous Cologne cellar. “But cut that nonsense. I don’t know what you’re thinking. It’s football, the referee makes a decision that’s totally reasonable in the case.”

Basically, “there’s just too many mistakes that happen with these things,” Rose said, adding, “When the challenge comes along, I give my go-ahead, don’t get the decision I want. Then the discussion goes on.”

So Rose concluded: “It’s pretty clear to me. We’ve tried long enough. Today is the best example for me that we shouldn’t.”
