Contract extension with Choupo-Moting? That's what consultant Wittmann says

Adviser Roger Wittmann has commented on the future of his client Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting and the current status of contract negotiations with FC Bayern Munich.

“We have worked out a decent position in the talks. Hasan Salihamidzic can also confirm that,” said Wittmann sky with a view to the negotiations with Bavaria’s sports director. “We’re on our last legs, but I can’t say how it will end.”

Although Wittmann hopes that Choupo-Moting will remain after his contract ends in the summer, the consultant did not want to commit himself to a possible conclusion of the contract. “It can also fail in the final stages. In the end it’s about the money, it’s always about the money,” said Wittmann. “If it doesn’t work out, the world of FC Bayern won’t end and neither will Choupo’s world. But we’ll try everything to reach an agreement.”

The Cameroon international joined Bayern on a free transfer from Paris Saint-Germain in 2020. The attacker, who was initially brought in as a backup for Robert Lewandowski, followed in the footsteps of the Pole as the only real nine at Bayern at the start of the season after his departure. He has scored twelve goals in 19 competitive games so far.

The rumors about Bayern’s alleged efforts to attract star striker Harry Kane from Tottenham Hotspur leave Wittmann and his protégé cold. “It doesn’t matter who is committed,” said the consultant. “Choupo-Moting’s decision does not depend on that.”
