Departure of Martin Demichelis? Turn is imminent

Martin Demichelis may not leave FC Bayern directly after all. The reason: In addition to the 41-year-old, Hernan Crespo is now also being traded as a possible new coach at River Plate.

This is reported by the Argentine broadcaster Radio La Red. The decision as to who will take over the position of Marcelo Gallardo at the traditional club from Buenos Aires will therefore be made in the next two weeks.

Demichelis, who has been in charge of Bayern’s second team in the fourth division since April 2021, is still under contract in Munich until the summer of 2023. Should it work out with a commitment to River Plate, where the former central defender played from 1998 to 2003, FCB would apparently not put any obstacles in his way.

Especially since Demichelis is reportedly not without controversy on Säbener Straße and his contract might not be extended beyond 2023 anyway. FC Bayern II is currently only ninth in the regional league.

“I’m proud that my name is being traded as one of the coaching candidates,” Demichelis recently hinted that he is definitely interested in the job at home.

But now the former star striker Crespo could snatch the task from under his nose. The 47-year-old is currently coaching Al-Duhail SC in Qatar, where his contract runs until the summer of 2023.
