DFL is apparently planning a new top game kick-off time

The DFL is apparently planning to introduce a new kick-off time in the Bundesliga. That reports the sports picture.

Accordingly, there should be considerations about playing a new first division top game on Saturday at 8:30 p.m. Steffen Merkel, DFL director of audiovisual rights, is said to have put forward this proposal at a workshop of the 18 Bundesliga clubs last week, with the idea having met with a generally positive response.

The top game of the second Bundesliga is currently playing at the same time every week, but according to the report, the interests of the German lower house should be taken into account. Within the second division, there should have been no criticism of the plans in a separate meeting.

A change could only come into effect with the upcoming sale of rights for the 2025/26 season. It is therefore also crucial how much money the TV and streaming broadcasters would be willing to pay for the new top game.

“As in the past, we will look at the tender as a whole and evaluate it for ourselves when the rights are awarded,” says the pay-TV broadcaster and current co-rights holder sky at sports picture quoted.
