FC Schalke 04 apparently found a successor plan for the resigned sports director Rouven Schröder before the start of the winter transfer phase. That reports the picture.
Accordingly, the Royal Blues will in future rely on a dual leadership of transfer consultant René Grotus and chief scout André Hechelmann.
The two should then cover all tasks together with sports director Peter Knäbel, who has temporarily covered the office since Schröder’s resignation.
Benjamin Schmedes is said to have been a favorite for the role of sports director.
However, the transfer fee demanded by his current club, Vitesse Arnheim, was too high for the empty Schalke coffers. Schmedes is the technical director at the Dutch first division club.
