Heller worked for Eintracht in various capacities for more than two decades. He took over as president shortly after the club was relegated to the Bundesliga for the first time in 1996, and was replaced four years later by the current incumbent, Peter Fischer.
“I have known Rolf Heller for many years as a committed official and above all as a good friend,” said Fischer: “He always supported me in my new job at the time, I could always rely blindly on Rolf. That he is now after his serious illness I am deeply saddened to have passed away.”
