Eintracht Frankfurt – Oliver Glasner on rumours: “I don’t know who is so nervous”

Eintracht Frankfurt coach Oliver Glasner is annoyed by the ongoing rumors about his future in the Main metropolis.

“I don’t know who is so nervous. I still have 16, 17 months of contract,” said the coach of the Bundesliga soccer team in a Sky interview after the test match against second division SpVgg Greuther Fürth (1: 1) on Thursday.

His Freiburg coaching colleague Christian Streich had “just extended his contract, which expires in the summer, and nobody was nervous,” explained Glasner, whose contract with Hessen runs until the summer of 2024: “I didn’t tell anyone that I was leaving the club wants to leave. Everything I say won’t be believed – and that’s why I don’t say anything about it.”

Glasner, who surprisingly led Eintracht to the Europa League triumph last year, has been associated with the top English Premier League club Tottenham Hotspur for days. The Austrian has not yet accepted a Frankfurt offer to extend the contract.

According to Glasner, the reporters are also responsible for the unrest about his person and the club. “Perhaps one should think again whether it is wise to act like this from the media side,” said the 48-year-old: “There is no reason at all to be nervous, it is somehow carried in.” His team is concentrating “on the sporty thing” and trying to “of course hide” the restlessness.

The fact that the sixth in the table, who has now been waiting for a win for six competitive games, is a topic of conversation is not surprising: “I think it’s often the case with traditional clubs that it’s a bit louder.”
