First offensive usury of opportunities, then a defensive dropout: RB Leipzig was rudely thwarted in its race to catch up in the Bundesliga.
The team of coach Jesse Marsch, despite clear superiority in the meantime with feared opponents Eintracht Frankfurt, did not get more than 1: 1 (1: 0) and missed the first jump to a Champions League place. After all, the Saxons remained unbeaten in the sixth game in a row.
Late in stoppage time, Tuta (90th + 4) equalized after Yussuf Poulsen’s opening goal (35th). For the tie kings of Eintracht, the sixth draw of the season was nothing more than a sign of caution. Sorely missed in Frankfurt, so far unhappy at RB – many eyes were directed at returnees Andre Silva in Deutsche Bank Park. “I’m a little excited and looking forward to my return,” said the Portuguese, who had moved to Saxony for 23 million, before the game.
