Extension with Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting until 2024

Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting will stay with FC Bayern for at least another year. As expected, the 33-year-old extended the contract with the German record champions until June 30, 2024. His contract would have expired in the summer. According to information from sky and Picture Choupo-Moting’s annual salary will increase to an amount in the tens of millions.

“Choupo is an artist on the ball, he has performed very well in recent years. In the first half of the season he helped us to close the gap we had in the striker position,” said sporting director Hasan Salihamidzic: “He has did it very well and confirmed his performances in games this year. We are happy to have him and to be able to work with him until summer 2024.”

He was “super happy” and wanted to “continue to have a lot of fun” with the club, said Choupo-Moting, who scored 15 goals and four assists in 24 competitive games: “I get on very well with the boys, we’re working hard on our goals “The competition is fierce, but if you want to be among the best, that’s part of it. That’s the only way to win a lot of titles, and we still have a lot planned. The overall package at FC Bayern is right. There’s no reason to change anything.”

Choupo-Moting moved from Paris St. Germain to Munich in October 2020 as a back-up for superstar Robert Lewandowski. Since this season, the native of Hamburg, who plays for the national team of Cameroon, has been number one in Bayern attack, replacing Lewandowski, who switched to FC Barcelona.

However, there is still speculation about Bayern’s interest in England’s top star Harry Kane. The Tottenham Hotspur striker is said to be a possible candidate in Munich from July. The England captain’s contract expires in 2024. A transfer this summer would be very expensive.
