FC Bayern – friend of Robert Lewandowski denies strike: “False reports should harm him”

Robert Lewandowski’s friend and business partner Tomek Zawislak has told the picture a possible strike by the striker denied. The Pole criticized the fact that false reports about Lewandowski were being circulated, which FC Bayern is not entirely innocent of. And: A change is still not off the table.

Lewandowski would like to leave Bayern this summer despite his contract running until 2023. However, the record champion has publicly put a stop to a change and is said to have blocked several offers from FC Barcelona.

At the end of June, there were media reports that Lewandowski was even considering a strike to get Bayern to rethink. Zawislak, who is responsible for marketing and public relations in “Team Lewandowski”, now clearly denied this: “I don’t know where the rumors about a strike are coming from. There was never such a thought.”

He criticized the media for “various fake news that were spread to harm and incite resentment towards him. As a result, there was a lot of hate online and serious threats against [Lewandowski].” Bayern are not innocent of that either, Zawislak pointed out: “Playing with emotions as a club is part of football, but these days it is necessary to be very careful and not to exceed certain limits.”

“No one is bigger than this club,” said Bayern CEO Oliver Kahn in May, and explained: “He has a contract, he will fulfill it. Basta.” Zawislak’s reaction: “It’s true that no player is bigger than the club, but no club is bigger than a person.”

So far, Bayern have not softened. They are expecting their star striker at the start of training on July 12 at Säbener Straße. However, Lewandowski himself has not yet given up hope of a departure.

“The transfer window is still open, Robert has made it clear that he wants to leave and the talks are taking place. Various scenarios are still possible,” emphasized Zawislak. And: “Changing clubs during an ongoing contract is quite normal in football, and Bayern also sign players that way.”
