FC Bayern – Hasan Salihamidzic with appeal after Freiburg victory: “That’s exactly the benchmark”

Sports director Hasan Salihamidzic complimented the team after FC Bayern’s 5-0 win over SC Freiburg, but at the same time made a clear appeal to the players of the German record champions.

“That’s exactly the benchmark,” said Salihamidzic after the clear success and added: “We have to be measured by that.”

He also praised Bayern’s “intensity, emotion and focus” when defending and going forward. In the past few weeks and also in the 2-2 draw against Borussia Dortmund, Munich had conceded some unnecessary goals. Scoring odds was also a ubiquitous topic.

The latter improved against Freiburg thanks to Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting (SPOX rating: 1), the only real striker in the FCB squad had received praise from all sides after his goal and his assist.

“He’s the best sole player,” enthused Serge Gnabry DAZN from his teammate, who could “fix the ball incredibly well”. Coach Julian Nagelsmann also took this line and described Choupo-Moting as an “extremely good target player who is often missed in the media. We know that we have him and are very happy about it.”

The 33-year-old had “played very well”, added Nagelsmann and gave the striker the prospect of a starting eleven nomination for the DFB Cup game against FC Augsburg: “We also have a few other good players, but when you play like that, then he will also play on Wednesday.”

Nagelsmann was also “incredibly proud of the rest of the team because they played a really good game and also deserved to win at altitude.”

Gnabry also spoke of an “important sign after a few unnecessarily difficult weeks” and alluded again to the five games without a win on the previous six match days.
