After Bayern Munich’s 3-1 defeat at Mainz 05, Bayern captain Joshua Kimmich has had to deal with harsh criticism.
“Kimmich can’t organize on the pitch, he never learned that,” said Jens Lehmann, former German international goalkeeper BILD TV. At the same time, the 53-year-old criticized the training in the youth academies: “You have to protect the players because they can only call up what they have learned,” he explained. “The players are not responsible in the sense that they are set up.”
The 28-year-old was substituted against Mainz after 75 minutes and looked off the ball like in the past few weeks.
Kimmich is an undisputed regular player and midfield engine at Bayern. This season, the 76-time German international has made 42 competitive appearances, six goals and nine assists.
