FC Bayern Munich apparently brings João Cancelo from Manchester City

Transfer cracker at FC Bayern Munich! The German record champions are apparently loaning João Cancelo from Manchester City.

This is reported by several media, the portal The Athletic reported the deal first. According to sky the 28-year-old should complete the medical check-up in Munich on Monday.

The Portuguese full-back has only been second choice under Pep Guardiola since the 2022 World Cup in Qatar. The way out is now probably a loan deal to FC Bayern. The deal with the German record champions should also include a purchase option. This is planned for the summer and should be around 70 million euros.

The right foot is a trained right-back, but can act on the left back in defence. At the World Cup, the Portuguese international (41 games, seven goals) played in four out of five games, first twice as a right-back and in the other two games as a left-back.

Bayern Noussair Mazraoui is missing in Cancelo’s accustomed position at right back indefinitely due to a myocarditis. Coach Julian Nagelsmann is not completely convinced of Benjamin Pavard as a replacement, especially since the French international is openly toying with a farewell.

In the most recent 1-1 draw in the Bundesliga against Eintracht Frankfurt, Croatian Josip Stanisic started at right back, while Pavard spent 90 minutes on the bench.
