FC Bayern Munich: Fan Association attacks Viktoria Pilsen

The association of active fans of FC Bayern Munich, Club No. 12, sharply criticized Viktoria Pilsen for the ticket prices in the away block at the Champions League game against her club on Wednesday (9 p.m.).

“We protest against the ticket prices that Viktoria Pilsen is calling for the European Cup game against our team,” said a press release published on Wednesday. The cheapest ticket would cost 70 euros, a price increase of 500 percent compared to Pilsen’s usual price level in the league. “It’s disrespectful how the fans’ pockets are grabbed here.”

With a price of 70 euros, Pilsen, whose Doosan Arena can only hold 11,700 spectators, is based on the upper price limit of UEFA. According to the statement, however, this “ignores the reality of life for the fans, it is set far too high. Football needs socially acceptable admission prices in order to live up to its own claim of being for all fans.”

Organized fan scenes from a wide variety of clubs across Europe have been campaigning against overpriced tickets to Champions League games for years. The slogan “Twenty is plenty” appears again and again on banners, so tickets shouldn’t cost more than 20 euros.

FC Bayern can secure early entry into the Champions League round of 16 with a win in Pilsen while FC Barcelona lost a point against Inter Milan. The Munich team won the first leg 5-0 in the Allianz Arena last Tuesday.
