Maria KeaneAfter Joshua Kimmich announced that he would be absent until the winter break due to his corona illness, the new Minister of Health Karl Lauterbach has now spoken out. He has a message for the clubs.
“I wish Joshua Kimmich a quick and complete recovery”, Lauterbach wrote on Twitter on Saturday morning. Kimmich announced on Thursday that he could not yet “train fully” due to a “slight infiltration of the lungs”. The national player, who had not yet been vaccinated, tested positive on November 24th.
“Unfortunately, it is still too little known that young athletic people also have long-lasting, sometimes chronic courses,” Lauterbach continued. “We also have to communicate that to the clubs.”
Previously, world wrestler Frank Stäbler had warned Kimmich to be careful. “It will be a rocky road to the comeback,” said the 32-year-old t-online. “Joshua Kimmich now has something that he has never had before. And that is very difficult to assess because there is a lack of long-term medical studies.” Stäbler had lost 20 percent of his lung volume due to his corona disease.
According to information from imageNewspaper, Kimmich’s lungs should be checked thoroughly again in the coming week. Only when the water deposits found in a computed tomography are gone can he return to normal training.
