FC Bayern Munich - Markus Schwabl has Uli Hoeneß as a role model: "He's just a doer"

In the coming season, Markus Schwabl will be player and sports director at the third division promoted SpVgg Unterhaching. Now the 32-year-old has revealed that he wants to learn a lot from Uli Hoeneß.

“Uli Hoeneß is my role model,” said the son of former Bayern pro Manfred Schwabl in an interview sports1: “I’m a big fan of his human nature. Hoeneß is simply a go-getter. He made Bayern Munich what it is today. And now he’s making the decisions again.”

And Schwabl continued: “I have a piece of paper stuck to my desk with his strongest statements and guidelines, which I look at every day. Hoeneß knows how he runs a company, but he has always remained empathetic. He has shown in many situations that he stands up when the going gets tough. The players can always come to Hoeneß. That impresses me incredibly. We don’t even have to talk about sporting success.”

Humanity is very important to FCB’s creators, explained the right-back: “Of course he’s a tough dog and used to negotiate with players like a maniac. But you can always look Hoeneß in the eye. My father often spoke to him and a really good connection was formed that has lasted to this day.”
