Storm talent Mathys Tel wants to be part of FC Bayern beyond the current season. “Officially: Mathys stays in Munich, no matter what happens,” said the 18-year-old Frenchman’s consulting agency Mercury/tz in a statement.
The attacker was signed by the French first division club Stade Rennes for 20 million euros before the season. He has scored four goals in 19 Bundesliga appearances so far.
Most recently, coach Thomas Tuchel indicated that Tel could be loaned out in the coming season to give him match practice. However, it has “not yet been decided”, he said, how FC Bayern will proceed: “Loan, keep – we’ll do that at the end of August, not before.”
For his advisors, a temporary farewell to Tel, who has a contract in Munich until 2027, is out of the question, as they emphasized in their statement: “If you want to be a key player in Munich, you have to improve and fight in Munich. That’s the mentality. Mentally he’s ready, so he’s going ahead.”
