FC Bayern, News: Salihamidzic explains transfer plans
Hasan Salihamidzic has ruled out new signings at Bayern Munich with a view to the upcoming winter transfer window. “Reinforcements are not an issue at all,” said Bayern’s sports director before Munich’s 4-0 win against VfL Wolfsburg DAZN.
His only wish is “that the Allianz Arena can be filled again in January. It would be nice if we also keep this pandemic at a distance in society,” added Salihamidzic. “The transfer window is of secondary importance. We are well staffed – that is a fact and we will continue into the season like this.”
Julian Nagelsmann also spoke out afterwards against major changes in the squad. “If you take the last six months, I’m happy that we have the squad the way we had it because we needed every player. That’s good,” said Nagelsmann. “In the end, I’ll be happy if we continue to work with the squad, but it doesn’t matter if one or two players leave us and collect more playing time. We will decide that together.”
Most recently, Nagelsmann brought a loan deal from reservist Michael Cuisance into play. “I’ll discuss that with the player and the club,” said Nagelsmann after the 5-0 win at VfB Stuttgart, “he has far too little playing time to develop. We have to hold talks, which makes sense.”
FC Bayern, News: Kahn talks about Kimmich’s comeback
FC Bayern expects Joshua Kimmich to return when training starts on January 2nd. “There will be an investigation on December 22nd. We’ll see how the situation is,” said Bayern board member Oliver Kahn, explaining the next steps Sat 1. “We assume that he will be there for the start of training at the start of the second half of the season.”
Kimmich missed the previous games due to corona disease. The midfielder, who had previously caused a stir with his hesitant attitude about a corona vaccination, made his last appearance in the 2-1 win against SC Freiburg on November 6th.
Before the first half of the season against Wolfsburg, coach Julian Nagelsmann had been optimistic about the return of Kimmich and Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting, who was also suffering from Corona. “Both of them will soon have their investigations into what is going on with the infiltration in the lungs,” explained Nagelsmann. “When it is gone, they will be trained normally. Josh has a normal training schedule. We hope that he can join on January 2nd and we can greet him in his old freshness.”
