FC Bayern, News: Babbel criticizes Hoeneß

Markus Babbel has criticized Honorary President Uli Hoeneß for his unobjective attack on Qatar critic Michael Ott at FC Bayern’s annual general meeting.

“I would wish that Uli Hoeneß would calm down a bit and stand above things. Michael Ott asked very factually how things are. You should be allowed to discuss Qatar! I think it’s legitimate for a fan to ask “, said Babbel in the ran Bundesliga web show.

And the former Bayern professional continued: “I found Uli Hoeneß’s counterattack very incompetent. Herbert Hainer moderated it very cleverly in his own way. It’s a shame that Uli’s action caused such waves.”

Hoeneß had accused Ott that his speech at the AGM was “embarrassing”. “This is the Bayern Munich football club and not the general assembly of Amnesty International,” said the 70-year-old.

FC Bayern, News: Lewandowski thanks FCB

Robert Lewandowski was awarded the “Müller Trophy” at the Ballon d’Or, named after Bayern legend Gerd Müller. This is awarded to the player with the most goals in a season across all competitions.

“I’m very happy and proud to be here. Not only to win this trophy, but also because of the name,” added the Polish striker: “Gerd Müller was a huge inspiration for me. I wanted a few records from him breaking that was a huge challenge for me. It was very emotional for me to score the 41 goals in the Bundesliga because I didn’t think it was possible to break that record. Because of him I was able to do it. Everything I did was for him.”

Like the newspaper L’Equipe reported, even participation in the World Cup is in danger. “Unfortunately, I hurt myself again. But I will not give up, I will never give up. It’s the hard law of sport,” wrote the midfielder on Twitter.
