FC Bayern: Sports director Hasan Salihamidzic comments on the debate about Joshua Kimmich: "A joke for everyone"

Bayern Munich’s sports director Hasan Salihamidzic commented on the debate about Joshua Kimmich before the Champions League away game at Manchester City and chose clear words.

“It’s a joke for everyone,” Salihamidzic said to journalists waiting at the airport before leaving for Manchester. “I mean, Jo (Joshua Kimmich, editor’s note) said everything about it. It surprised me that someone was punished for being happy.”

Kimmich is a very “emotional player, just like I was,” continued Bayern’s sporting director. “We don’t need to open that again because it surprised me a lot. Let’s put it this way: I would have said something else now, but we don’t have to open that again.”

After the 1-0 win against SC Freiburg last weekend, the midfielder celebrated demonstratively in front of the Freiburg fans and aroused the displeasure of the SC supporters. Many experts were also critical of Kimmich’s behavior.

The 28-year-old then apologized for the action. “There were a lot of emotions involved, we lost a lot. It was a very important win for us. The loss of the cup was deep. I let myself be carried away, you don’t have to do that. You can see it like that, that it was unsportsmanlike.”
