FC Bayern - Uli Hoeneß defends himself against allegations of pulling the strings: "Have no influence at all"

Despite his withdrawal from the operational business of FC Bayern Munich, rumors persist that ex-President Uli Hoeneß still enjoys great influence with the German record champions. The 69-year-old now clearly rejects this.

“I have no influence at all,” emphasized Hoeneß in the ARD-Talk “Club 1”. That he influences the current president, Herbert Hainer, or CEO Oliver Kahn, is a “myth”.

Rather the opposite is the case. The advice of the ex-president is asked “less and less”. “It is important that, as a strong manager and president, you also look for people who you cannot manipulate,” said Hoeneß.

Nevertheless, the 69-year-old made no secret of the fact that the new FCB management was filled in this way at his personal request. He had “made a significant contribution to the fact that those who are doing it now – Oliver Kahn and Herbert Hainer – take this position,” said the FCB honorary president. And only because he “was and is convinced that they are doing well”.

So far, Kahn and Hainer have done their job more than properly, even if too little time has passed to give a final assessment. “You are still in there too briefly,” said Hoeness.
