FC Schalke 04 – Before Thomas Reis: Raúl probably gave S04 a basket

Apparently FC Schalke 04 had a different plan for the coaching position than Thomas Reis. As the mark reported, the Royal Blues are said to have asked ex-player Raúl. However, the 45-year-old has canceled Schalke and wants to remain a coach with Real Madrid’s second deputy until the end of the season.

After the season, the Spaniard will re-evaluate his situation, writes the Spanish newspaper. Then his contract in Madrid expires. Whether the legendary striker will be a topic again in Gelsenkirchen depends on how successful Reis is.

The former Bochum resident said at his presentation on Thursday that he didn’t care whether he was “Plan A, B, C or D”: “I’m sitting here, I have an honorable task.” And that’s all that counts. “It’s just the way it is in sport, football is fast-paced,” explained Reis.

Raúl once made 98 appearances for Schalke 04, scoring 40 goals and providing 21 assists. In 2011 he won the DFB Cup and the Supercup with the Knappen.
