FCB: Because of Thomas Müller’s role

"One drawer too low!" Lothar Matthäus advises against signing Niclas Füllkrug

In the discussion about Bayern Munich icon Thomas Müller, record national player Lothar Matthäus once again emphasized his immense value for the record champions. “For me, Thomas Müller belongs to this team not only because of his form, but also because of his personality,” said Matthäus on Sky 90.

With him “Müller would always play”. For him it is “almost inexplicable” that Bayern coach Thomas Tuchel has not recently relied on the 33-year-old more often.

Müller was in the starting line-up for Bayern’s 6-0 win against Schalke on Saturday and gave Munich the lead. Previously, Tuchel Müller had come on as a late substitute, including in the two Champions League quarter-finals against Manchester City.

According to Matthäus, “all Bayern players would be happy if Thomas Müller was on the pitch because they felt safer then”. Especially since stars like Joshua Kimmich, Serge Gnabry or Kingsley Coman could not lead the team at the moment because they were “occupied with themselves”.
