Felix Magath shoots against FC Bayern Munich: “A version of football”

"It has nothing to do with football"

Felix Magath sharply criticized his former club FC Bayern Munich in a panel discussion on the subject of money in football.

“That’s what has developed in football. It’s all about the money. And they all only look to Bayern Munich,” said Magath in the ZDFBroadcast “Markus Lanz”.

The 68-year-old explained that the German record champions are a “version of football”. Munich would “buy the best together”.

“Nothing has been developed there. Nothing has been put together. They get players somewhere, because they have more money than everyone else here in the league, they are undisputed, for what I know, 20 years, so high up that nobody there is more to it, “added Magath, who was head coach at Säbener Strasse for two and a half years.

On the Isar, Magath benefited from the continued dominance, which he is now demonizing, which Bavaria has benefited from. From 2004 until his release in January 2007, Magath won the championship and DFB Cup double twice.

He then won the championship again with VfL Wolfsburg in 2009 – a time when Magath also made a name for himself as an avid buyer on the transfer market. In total, he hired 291 players in his career as a coach and manager, for whom he spent around 312 million euros.
