FC Bayern: Flick probably wanted to get several DFB players

Hansi Flick apparently wanted to bring several players, including current and former DFB players, to Munich, all of whom were rejected. That reports image-Reporter Christian Falk in his book “Bayern Insider”.

Accordingly, Flick could imagine working with Kai Havertz in Munich, but considered the 80 million euros that Chelsea FC transferred for the national player to be “economically unrealistic”. In addition, he was a “great advocate” of a commitment from Timo Werner, with whom he even spoke on the phone. Bayern sports director Hasan Salihamidzic, with whom Flick had repeatedly disagreements until his separation, advocated a transfer from Leroy Sane – that’s how it happened.

Apparently Mario Götze would also have liked to see Flick at Bayern, just like Julian Draxler. Both refused the club bosses. According to the report, Flick would also have liked to have signed Benjamin Henrichs and the then Mainz Ridle Baku, but Bouna Sarr and Alvaro Odriozola came instead.

Other names that Flick and his staff put up for discussion were Arne Maier, then loaned to Arminia Bielefeld by Hertha, Max Meyer, at that time at Crystal Palace, and Shakhtar Donezk’s Dodo.

On Flick’s recommendation, on the other hand, Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting and loan player Tiago Dantas came to Munich, and Flick is said to have persuaded Dayot Upamecano as well.

FC Bayern: Uli Hoeneß explains his ‘attack department’

Uli Hoeneß, honorary president of FC Bayern, explained what his famous ‘attack department’ is all about and why he still insults journalists today.

“If I attacked, it was 98 percent to protect FC Bayern. To this day, I call journalists and abuse them,” said Hoeneß in the OMR-Podcast. It is the aim of the 69-year-old to protect the FCB employees from criticism.

“If I have the feeling that FC Bayern – or parts of the club, players, coaches and board members – are being treated unfairly, then you have to say something,” said Hoeneß.

FC Bayern: Hoeneß called Matthäus

Hoeneß called Lothar Matthäus after the 3-1 win over RB Leipzig. “What kind of nonsense did you say that FC Bayern is broadly the worst-positioned club in the Bundesliga – among the top clubs?”, Hoeneß asked the German national record player. Hoeneß said that he had “few arguments”.

Also in Sport1-Double pass Hoeneß likes to let out his anger. “I see that quite regularly. There is so much steam chatting and it never really gets down to business. You have to say something,” he explained.

His spontaneous guest appearances are always associated with little effort for him. “I have the number of an editor, whom I then call. He passes it on, then everything is thrown away and Hoeneß comes on the show,” said the long-time president of FCB.
