Maria KeaneHasan Salihamidzic defended Marc Roca’s transfer in 2020 on the sidelines of FC Bayern’s annual general meeting. An FCB member had previously sharply criticized those responsible for this deal, among other things.
“It is invested in playful junk, like Marc Roca and Bouna Sarr, for example,” complained a member from the podium: “And own talents like Adrian Fein and Angelo Stiller, who have been in the club for a long time, don’t get a chance at all. That has to Just imagine. It’s such a high level of mismanagement. They would be everywhere in other jobs now, but not in your offices anymore.”
Sports director Salihamidzic then explained that you had to “listen to everything”, but did not want to let the general criticism stand.
“Marc Roca shows that he’s playing very well in the Premier League, that he’s a really good player. He didn’t manage to assert himself at Bayern, but he’s a great boy and a really good footballer, he shows that now. Sometimes there are stations where you can’t get to the train,” said Salihamidzic.
Roca joined Leeds United in the summer. The 25-year-old Spaniard has played eight competitive games there and scored one goal. The midfielder made 24 appearances for Bayern Munich and failed to score.
FC Bayern: The situation at Bouna Sarr is different
The situation is different for Bouna Sarr, who came to the Isar from Olympique Marseille in 2020, said Salihamidzic. “Bouna got injured and was in pain for a while,” said the 45-year-old.
The 30-year-old Senegalese was used in 27 competitive games during his time in Munich. His yield: a goal and three assists.
“Of course the guys didn’t perform like one or the other did. Then you have to accept criticism,” admitted Salihamidzic.
