After the resignation of Werner Gegenbauer, Hertha Berlin is looking for a new president. However, managing director Fredi Bobic has no personal favorites in the forthcoming election.

“In any case, I’m completely neutral, that’s very important with all the candidates out there,” said Bobic.

In addition to the slightly favored Frank Steffel (ex-CDU member of the Bundestag) and Kay Bernstein (former Ultra member), long-time member of the Executive Committee Ingmar Pering and outsiders Michael Baumgärtner and Marvin Brumme are in the running. Bobic does not have a personal preference. “The members decide that in the end. I’m also a member, so I’ll have a say in that too, with one vote. Thank God it’s a secret,” said the 50-year-old.

Nevertheless, Bobic hopes for a “clear vote” from the members. “Then we will soon sit together and discuss things. I’m going in there with an open mind. I’m looking forward to working together and seeing something new happening. There are opportunities that we should also use for Hertha BSC,” said the Berlin managing director .

The long-standing incumbent Werner Gegenbauer resigned as Hertha President at the end of May after a lost power struggle with investor Lars Windhorst. The successor to the 72-year-old will be determined at an extraordinary general meeting on Sunday (11 a.m.).
