Hertha BSC - ex-professional Maik Franz: "Lars Windhorst has no great idea about football"

Former Bundesliga professional Maik Franz has commented on the situation at his ex-club Hertha BSC. Franz denied the investor Lars Windhorst’s expertise.

“Lars Windhorst talks a lot, but he doesn’t have a great idea about football, he has no idea about this club life and what happens on the pitch,” Franz said in an interview table football.

At the beginning of October, Windhorst declared that he wanted to sell his shares in the club, which he had bought for 374 million euros. He had previously hit the headlines for an alleged espionage affair involving ex-President Werner Gegenbauer.

“For the external image, what is coming will be a challenge for the club itself,” said Franz.

In the opinion of the 41-year-old, Windhorst’s money, which he put into the club, was invested completely wrong. This is also one reason why Hertha is going through a difficult phase. However, Franz has confidence in many of those responsible, including Fredi Bobic.

Franz played almost 200 Bundesliga games in his career, 19 of them for Hertha BSC. In 2011 he moved from Eintracht Frankfurt to the capital club, ending his career there in 2014.
