Maria KeaneHertha BSC mourns the loss of his former assistant coach Levent Selim. At the age of 48, the long-time assistant to the U23 team “died completely unexpectedly” on Wednesday, announced the capital city club. The association was “with the thoughts of the family, relatives and friends of Levent Selim”, who accompanied the second team from 2016 to August this year.
“We are absolutely shocked, that was absolutely unexpected,” said sports director Arne Friedrich on Thursday at the press conference before the game at TSG Hoffenheim: “We will not talk about clinical pictures, we have too little information about that.”
Selim also helped out with the Hertha professionals for a short time in April 2021. At that time, the entire coaching team around Pal Dardai had to be in corona quarantine, Friedrich took over for a short time and was supported by Selim and ex-player Malik Fathi from the U23.
