“If he presents himself like that, he’s a fix starter”

FC Bayern Munich lost a world-class center forward in Robert Lewandowski last summer. Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting has filled this gap better and better in recent weeks. Bayern boss Hasan Salihamidzic gave a lot of praise.

“We are happy to have him in the squad,” said sporting director Salihamidzic DAZN before the Champions League duel against FC Barcelona. “If he presents himself like that, he’s a fix starter.”

The 33-year-old striker can apparently not only hope for an extension of his expiring contract, but is also developing into a regular at FC Bayern. A cooperation beyond the existing contract until 2023 is becoming more and more likely. Salihamidzic reiterated this: “We’re all relaxed, he should play well and then we’ll talk.”

Even Bayern board member Oliver Kahn recently commented on the burgeoning Cameroonian and his contract. However, he curbed the euphoria and advised patience. “We’re in the middle of the season and now we’re concentrating fully on the six games, then the World Cup is over,” said Kahn. “When the time comes, we’ll sit down together. But that’s very, very early now.”

Choupo-Moting has made ten appearances this season. In these he got five goals and two assists.
