Maria KeaneInterim coach Michael Wimmer will also take care of VfB Stuttgart in the away game at Borussia Dortmund on Saturday. This was announced by VfB sporting director Sven Mislintat after the confident 6-0 (4-0) win in the second round of the cup against second-division bottom Arminia Bielefeld.
It’s “not a big secret,” Mislintat said after the game sky. Wimmer spoke of a “vote of trust from the club. I’m happy about that.”
VfB sacked Pellegrino Matarazzo last week. His assistant Wimmer had already led the Swabians to their first league win of the season against VfL Bochum (4-1) on Saturday.
For Mislintat, this is a “nice luxury problem. It buys us time to find the best possible solution.” The Dane Jess Thorup (currently without a club) and the former Hoffenheim coach Alfred Schreuder (Ajax Amsterdam) are traded as candidates. But Wimmer is definitely “part of the solution,” said Mislintat.
Wimmer emphasized that he would help “until a new one is here”. This is a “clear agreement” with Mislintat. He doesn’t bother with other scenarios, the 42-year-old added modestly, although he collected some arguments with the two clear victories.
