BVB may want to make significant concessions to the 19-year-old in the fight for Jude Bellingham. Hans-Joachim Watzke talks about the Bundesliga summit against FC Bayern, while Marco Reus is highly praised. Latest news and rumors about Borussia Dortmund.
More news and rumors about BVB:
BVB, rumour: New contract with an exit clause for Jude Bellingham?
Almost all observers are expecting BVB superstar Jude Bellingham to say goodbye next summer: The 19-year-old still has a contract until 2025, but is on the list with almost every top club and should probably decide for himself whether he stays or goes.
As the Picture reported, the Dortmund management team around Sebastian Kehl now wants to make special concessions in order to persuade Bellingham to stay in the Bundesliga. This is what the plan supposedly looks like: Bellingham extends his contract until 2026, collects 15 million euros a year from now on – and gets a fixed exit clause in his contract. That could allegedly be at least 150 million euros.
In order for the deal to be worthwhile for BVB, this clause should not take effect until the summer of 2024. Then Bellingham would only be 21 years old – but with interested parties like Real Madrid, Manchester City or Liverpool FC, this decision will certainly not be easy for him.
However, the media reports contradict each other here: Like the Ruhr news write, Bellingham should not get a release clause, even if he decides to extend it. Erling Haaland used the same when he switched to Manchester City last year.
BVB, News: Hans-Joachim Watzke talks about the game against FC Bayern
BVB Managing Director Hans-Joachim Watzke looked ahead to the upcoming Bundesliga summit against FC Bayern on Saturday (6:30 p.m.). “We’ve caught up ten points on Bayern over the past few months, so for the first time in a long time our team can travel to Munich with a lot of confidence,” he said SZ. In recent years, Dortmund had not seen any land in Munich, most recently in 2014 there was an away win against Bayern.
Regardless of the result in Munich, the title race continues, Watzke emphasized: “The nice thing is that the championship will not be decided this Saturday, no matter how it turns out. We only have three away games left after that, but five home games. That’s how it is or so close.” BVB is currently one point ahead of Bayern.
BVB, News: Great praise for Marco Reus
Whether Maro Reus will stay in Dortmund beyond the summer is still completely open. The 32-year-old himself would like to stay, but an agreement with BVB on extending his expiring contract is still pending.
There was now great praise for Reus table football from his former Gladbach coach Michael Frontzeck. “His game has become finer, he moves skillfully in the gaps, has a great shooting technique and is also diligent at the back – one of the few difference players in the league,” enthused Frontzeck. He hopes to stay at BVB, “because every year from him is a win for football”.
Sebastian Kehl also celebrated his attacking player: “We all have great respect for Marco, he is in his eleventh season at BVB and is on the hunt for records. Most recently he even caught up with Michael Zorc for goals. He deservedly goes down in Borussia history with that Dortmund in.”
BVB, News: Will Karim Adeyemi fail against FC Bayern?
Karim Adeyemi threatens to drop out again after recovering from a torn muscle fiber. The Borussia Dortmund attacker has, according to information from Sky sports felt pain again during training.
The national player sustained the injury against Hertha BSC in mid-February. During the international break, he should be gradually returned to everyday training. A comeback against Bayern seemed likely.
Before his retirement, Adeyemi was one of the hopefuls in the BVB team. In his six appearances in 2023 he has four goals and two assists.
