Julian Nagelsmann explains Joshua Zirkzee's deficits

Bayern coach Julian Nagelsmann explained why FCB striker Joshua Zirkzee was not able to break through in Munich. At the same time, he made it clear that the Dutchman can still have a great future.

Nagelsmann had a long conversation with Zirkzee in the summer, “where I showed him that leaving Lewy can also bring a chance,” said Nagelsmann on the PK before the top Bundesliga game against Borussia Mönchengladbach.

“He does certain things outstandingly, has great talent, an intelligent finish and basically a paragon. He could achieve anything, but in one or two situations he has to take a step more and then he will be able to make an outstanding development. For every club “Nagelsmann listed not only the strengths but also the weaknesses of the tall attacker, who is about to move to FC Bologna in Serie A and will sign there for four years.

FC Bayern should collect more than eight million euros as a fixed amount, and FCB should also be allowed to bring the player back by matching right if Bologna receives an offer from another club. In the event of a resale, a clause that secures the Munich-based company a 50 percent stake applies. There is also noisy picture a buyback clause of 20 to 25 million euros.

All of these contract details make it clear that FC Bayern has not yet lost faith in Zirkzee, as Nagelsmann also clarifies: “He has very good quality, a good header game, very good movements in the penalty area. He actually got everything you need , to be a top striker. A little bit more punch and power in certain situations, then that will certainly be a very, very good striker.”

Zirkzee already played in Italy last year, for Parma Calcio he only made short appearances on loan. Things went better after that in the 2021/22 season in Belgium at RSC Anderlecht (47 games, 18 goals and 13 assists). In addition to Bologna, the Belgians and VfB Stuttgart have recently been linked to the 21-year-old.
