Karl-Heinz Rummenigge reveals former scouting list

Karl-Heinz Rummenigge has revealed that FC Bayern has been interested in Julian Brandt from Borussia Dortmund in the past. “Basically we scouted him once too. He was part of the U17 national team,” said the 66-year-old at Picture TV.

Brandt was not the only player on the Munich scouting list. The record champions also watched today’s FCB star Joshua Kimmich and another surprising candidate, as Rummenigge revealed: “In addition to Brandt, Kimmich and Selke were interesting.”

While Brandt moved from the youth of VfL Wolfsburg to Bayer Leverkusen and then to Dortmund, today’s Herthan Davie Selke moved from TSG Hoffenheim’s U17 to Werder Bremen. With Kimmich, Bayern from Rummenigges bet on the right horse: “Fortunately, our scout Michael Reschke concentrated on Kimmich.”

In 2017, the midfielder moved from VfB Stuttgart to Munich for 8.5 million and has since played 279 games for the record champions. In the current season, Kimmich collected seven goals in 18 missions, but is currently incapacitated by a corona infection.
