Karl Lauterbach with the next appeal in the vaccination debate to Joshua Kimmich

SPD health expert Karl Lauterbach has again appealed to Bayern Munich midfielder Joshua Kimmich in the vaccination debate.

He referred via Twitter to a study by the University of Düsseldorf that was “relevant to Joshua Kimmich” because it showed that Bundesliga and Serie A footballers suffering from Corona were “still five percent less powerful in the game six months after infection” be.

Lauterbach had recently signaled his readiness for an educational talk with Kimmich, who had not yet decided in favor of a corona vaccination due to “concerns about the lack of long-term studies” and with his public statement Sky had started a vaccination debate, as a result of which he was partly sharply criticized.

“If he wanted that, I would offer him one straight away,” Lauterbach said Munich Mercury: “From a scientific point of view, there is more reason to worry about long-term damage from an infection with corona than from a vaccination.”

Although Lauterbach could not understand Kimmich’s attitude, especially against the background of the “We kick Corona” initiative launched together with teammate Leon Goretzka and attested that the Bayern star had “maneuvered himself into a difficult situation”, he warned that putting public pressure on the 26-year-old and other people who have concerns about a Covid-19 vaccination.

“That would be wrong, because we don’t have to be vaccinated, it’s Joshua Kimmich’s own decision,” Lauterbach said.
