Maria KeaneLoaned by Ron-Thorben Hoffmann from FC Bayern Munich, he is aiming for a long-term stay at AFC Sunderland. Should the English third division rise in the summer, the 22-year-old keeper would be obliged to purchase anyway.
“We are still seven months away from this scenario. I want to advance with the team and stay here for the long term. That is very clear to me,” said Hoffmann The Athletic. His contract with FC Bayern runs until 2023.
Hoffmann switched to Sunderland on a one-year loan in the summer after he had not made a competitive appearance with the Bayern professionals in three years. He was mainly used for the second team in the 3rd division.
At Sunderland Hoffmann is set. With his team he is in third place after 21 match days, which would qualify him to participate in the playoffs at the end of the season. On Tuesday, Sunderland will face Arsenal in the League Cup quarter-finals.
According to his own information, Hoffmann had long dreamed of moving to England: “I always told my parents that I wanted to play in England or for Bayern Munich.”
