Maria KeaneThe corona crisis continues to make financially difficult problems for Bundesliga club VfB Stuttgart. “We have recorded a loss of 80 million euros in sales since the beginning of the pandemic,” said the new CFO Thomas Ignatzi in an interview with Stuttgarter Zeitung and the Stuttgarter Nachrichten (Saturday editions).
The CEO Thomas Hitzlsperger confirmed that the club is still looking for investors. He also emphasized that one also has to finance oneself through transfer proceeds.
There is currently no need for action, but it could look different in summer. “We’ll have to talk about whether one of our top players has to be handed in for a high transfer fee,” said Hitzlsperger.
